England Will Overcome Italy In The Euro 2020 Final On Penalties According To Jamie Carragher

Jaime Carragher predicts England will beat Italy on penalties in the Euro 2020 final, but warns Gareth Southgate’s side that it will be a’really tight game’ at Wembley.

In their first major tournament final in 55 years, Gareth Southgate’s team will face the Azzurri in a bid to win their first ever European Championships championship.

Despite the fact that Italy beat Spain on penalties in the semi-final earlier this week, Carragher feels the Three Lions’ training ground work and previous experience with spot kicks means he would support them from 12 yards against Spain at Wembley on Sunday.

Jamie Carragher believes England would win the Euro 2020 final on penalties on Sunday. The former England defender has cautioned the Three Lions that Italy will be a tough test. ‘I think it will be a very tight game,’ he told Sky Sports.

I believe it will go to penalties and England will win.

‘We’ve put a lot of effort into penalties, so let’s not waste it!’

I don’t believe the game will feature many goals.

Defensively, both Italy and England are formidable opponents.

‘I believe it will end 1-1 and go to penalties.’

I believe it is the appropriate conclusion.

‘I think they’ve been the two most remarkable sides in this championship – and it’ll be winner takes all on Sunday.’ England will face Italy, who beat Spain on penalties in the Wembley semi-final on Tuesday night. Roberto Mancini’s Italy are on a 33-game unbeaten run in all competitions, having overcome Austria, Belgium, and Spain on their way to the final.

In the meanwhile, England has faced Germany, Ukraine, and Denmark on their way to the final on Sunday, as well as Croatia and the Czech Republic in the group stages.

The Three Lions haven’t won a major tournament since the 1966 World Cup, while Italy hasn’t won anything since 2006.

Carragher feels Gareth Southgate’s England will be watching Italy’s outstanding performances against Belgium and Spain ahead of the final. Carragher believes Italy’s excellent performances against Belgium and Spain will be a concern for Southgate’s England, as he believes the final will feature two of the finest teams in the tournament.

‘That will be a tremendously challenging game for England,’ he added.

Those are the tournament’s two best teams.

‘I think England will be looking at Italy’s really good performances more than their awful ones to gauge how tough it could be.’
