Matt Clarke, a defender for Brighton, is close to joining West Bromwich Albion for PS5 million.
The 24-year-old, who joined Brighton from Portsmouth for PS3.9 million in July 2019 and previously spent time on loan at Derby County, is said to be of ‘real interest’ to incoming West Brom boss Valerien Ismael.
Clarke spent the last two seasons at Pride Park, making 81 appearances in all competitions and scored one goal, including a goal against Ismael’s Barnsley last season.
West Bromwich Albion are close to signing Matt Clarke (second left) from Brighton. Clarke, who spent two years on loan at Derby, could depart the Amex without ever playing a game for Graham Potter’s side.
Meanwhile, Brighton are keeping an eye on Getafe’s Marc Cucurella, who is presently with Spain’s Olympic team.
Cucurella, a 22-year-old former Barcelona player, has one Spain cap and might replace Bernardo, who departed Brighton earlier this summer.
