Lando Norris, a British Formula One driver, was mugged after witnessing the Euro 2020 final between England and Italy at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, according to his McLaren team.
In a statement, the team said the 21-year-old’s watch was taken.
“Thankfully, Lando was unharmed,” the team stated, “but he is obviously shaken.”
“The team is behind Lando, and we are confident that racing fans will join us in wishing him luck for this weekend’s British Grand Prix,” it said. “But, as this is now a police case, we cannot comment further.”
The watch was reportedly worth PS40,000 and was snatched as he approached the stadium in his McLaren sports vehicle.
Norris is friendly with a number of England players who lost the final on penalties following a 1-1 stalemate in extra time.
The driver is now fourth in the standings and has appeared on the podium three times this season.
At Wembley Stadium, police made 53 arrests as fans fought with each other and officials, violated security cordons, and stormed into the perimeter area before the match began.
