Juventus Has Yet To Meet With Free Agency Giorgio Chiellini To Discuss A New Contract According To His Agent

Juventus have yet to discuss a new contract with free agent Giorgio Chiellini, according to his agent.

At Euro 2020, the centre-back captained Italy to victory, as Roberto Mancini’s side defeated England on penalties in the final.

However, the 36-year-old’s contract with Serie A champions Juventus expired with the end of last month, and while his agent Davide Lippi believes his client would not mind continuing his career at Juventus for a 18th season, he insists no talks have taken place.

Juventus have yet to discuss a new contract with Giorgio Chiellini (L), according to his agent Davide Lippi (R). The centre-back captained Roberto Mancini’s Italy to Euro 2020 success over the weekend. ‘It takes two to sign a contract,’ Lippi said on Radio Radio.

‘Giorgio went to the Euros and concentrated solely on that event.’

‘There’s no problem with Juventus; we agreed to meet later this summer, but we haven’t yet met to talk a renewal.’ When asked what would happen if another European club made an approach for Chiellini, Lippi answered, ‘They’d have to make the offer first.’

There is currently no one.

We’re waiting for Juventus to inform us when we can get down and talk.’ Chiellini, who turns 37 next month, is nearing the conclusion of his playing career, despite his great achievements at Euro 2020.

Lippi, on the other hand, complimented his client’s ‘amazing’ comeback from a major knee injury that kept him out from August 2019 to February last year, and insisted that his desire to play continues to fire within him.

‘Thinking of Chiellini away from the playing field at this point is insane,’ Lippi continued. Despite his great performances at Euro 2020, Chiellini is nearing the conclusion of his playing career.

‘It’s astounding what he performed after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.’

Passion is what drives him, and we saw that passion in action during the Euros.

‘For many years, he was a symbol of Juventus, and we are waiting for a team to recognize him.’

Nobody has phoned, but given that he is the only free agent in the Italy squad right now, I wouldn’t be shocked if they did.’ Chiellini has made 535 appearances for Juventus since joining the club from Livorno in 2004, scoring 36 goals in the process.

At the Allianz Stadium, he has won nine Serie A crowns and five Coppa Italias, as well as making 112 appearances for the Azzurri and scoring eight goals.
