Liverpool Haverejected The Chance To Re Sign Ozan Kabak In Order To Focus On Nicolo Barella

According to reports, Liverpool has turned down the opportunity to re-sign Ozan Kabak from Schalke for PS8.5 million.

Following their relegation from the Bundesliga, the German club is claimed to have offered the Turkey international to Liverpool in a desperate attempt to raise revenue and reduce their salary bill.

Liverpool, who took Kabak on a four-month loan move in January, have rejected the chance to buy him permanently, according to Goal, and are unlikely to change their minds before the transfer window closes.

Liverpool have reportedly turned down the chance to re-sign Schalke defender Ozan Kabak. The 21-year-old was bought on the final day of the January transfer window as the Reds looked to shore up their defense after losing Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip to long-term injuries.

While Kabak would go on to make 13 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side in all competitions, the Reds decided against making his loan move permanent for PS18 million.

And now, with Ibrahima Konate arriving from RB Leipzig in May and Van Dijk, Matip, and Gomez all ready to return, the Turkish international has no place at the club.

While Liverpool’s defensive options appear to be secured, they continue to look for a midfielder.

The Reds signed the 21-year-old Turk on a four-month loan contract from Schalke in January to provide insurance following the long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. Rumors on Wednesday stated that the club had backed away from trying to sign Youri Tielemans this summer after being priced out by Leicester.

Saul Niguez of Atletico Madrid was reportedly a target, but the Spaniard is set to join Barcelona in a spectacular swap deal that will send Antoine Griezmann in the opposite direction.

Klopp is looking for a midfielder after Georginio Wijnaldum departed on a free transfer to join Paris Saint-Germain, but after Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph, the German manager may be looking for another option.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Reds are interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella, who is valued at PS60 million.

The 24-year-old was a key player in the Azzurri’s victory over England in the European Championship final at Wembley on Sunday.

Likewise, Liverpool are interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella, who helped Italy win Euro 2020. Barella’s performances have piqued the curiosity of Europe’s elite, and Liverpool might find themselves in a bidding war with Manchester United.

With how much they paid Cagliari for his services in 2019, the Italian champions are unlikely to sell the midfielder.

If Klopp is unable to sign Barella, he might instead target Florian Neuhaus of Borussia Monchengladbach, Yves Bissouma of Brighton and Hove Albion, or Renato Sanches of Lille.

If they are unable to complete deals for their other key midfield targets, Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse has been mooted as a backup option.
