Why Did Rashford Opt For Surgery Eight Months After Injuring His Shoulder Muscle

Marcus Rashford has waited a long time to have surgery on a shoulder injury he acquired last November.

Rashford considered undergoing surgery the day after Manchester United’s season ended in a Europa League final loss to Villarreal on May 26, but he ultimately decided to represent England at the European Championship.

Rashford had made himself accessible for the previous 24 weeks, so another month at most in such a significant competition was seen manageable.

Rashford did not play as much in England’s run to the Euros final as desired, with only 83 minutes of action in their seven games, and doubts are being asked privately about how much of that was due to his bodily issues.
