Borussia Dortmund Is Expecting A Significant Transfer Bid For Erling Haaland From Chelsea Fc

Chelsea are expected to make a strong bid for Erling Haaland, according to Borussia Dortmund.

Yet, the German club will use the same approach as they did last summer while fending off Manchester United’s interest in Jadon Sancho.

Dortmund will only sell the Norway striker if a bid of PS150 million is made, with the club willing to accept a large knock on his value by keeping him for another year.

Next summer, interested teams can activate a release clause in Haalands contract, allowing him to go for about PS65 million.

Some predicted Dortmund would cash in this transfer window to avoid missing out on a massive gain, but the club insists they do not need to sell.

That puts pressure on Chelsea to break the British transfer record if they are to capture Thomas Tuchel’s top target in his effort to win the Premier League title next season after winning the Champions League.

Chelsea is considering signing Haaland, but they are unlikely to persuade Dortmund to decrease their asking price.

Last year, United believed they might negotiate a lower cost for Sancho because of the financial impact Covid would have on the Bundesliga club.

Dortmund stayed hard in their estimate of Sancho, which was little over PS100 million, and refused to budge.

After getting an extra year out of the England international, they accepted a bid of PS72.9 million this summer.

Erling Haaland’s ascension to superstardom They want to keep Haaland for another season to help them in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League.

But, it is thought that a PS150 million offer would be too good to pass up.

Haaland is coveted by Europe’s top clubs, with Manchester United and Manchester City among them.

The 20-year-old is said to be interested in moving to the Premier League.

After signing Sancho, there are doubts about United’s ability to fund a transfer, while City’s emphasis has shifted to Harry Kane.

Chelsea, therefore, might beat both of them to the punch if they make a substantial bid in the coming weeks.

After granting Tuchel a new contract following the Champions League triumph, Roman Abramovich has offered him huge cash to upgrade his squad this summer.

Tuchel has told the club’s management that he wants a top-class striker, and has identified Romelu Lukaku, Kane, and Sergio Aguero as potential targets ahead of the transfer season.

The acquisition of Haaland would be a big statement of purpose, but it is widely acknowledged that it will be a difficult transaction to pull through, made all the more difficult by the fact that the player is not expected to push for a move.

“He’s in our plans,” Sebastian Kehl, who will succeed Michael Zorc as Dortmund’s sporting director in 2022, stated this week.

Erling is famished.

Tuchel’s approach to transfers is to create a profile of the type of player he requires rather than focusing on specific targets.

Yet he has made no secret of his enthusiasm for Haaland, who was already on Chelsea’s radar before the German’s January hiring.

Tuchel struggled to find the proper balance in attack during his first months in charge, preferring Kai Havertz to Timo Werner, Tammy Abraham, and Olivier Giroud as a false nine.
