Celtic Sign Japan International Forward Kyogo Furuhashi From Vissel Kobe

Celtic have signed Japanese forward Kyogo Furuhashi on a four-year contract from Vissel Kobe.

Furuhashi will join the Scottish Premiership from the J1 League, where he is presently the top scorer in the ongoing 2021 season with 14 goals.

Furuhashi, a former teammate of Vissel Kobe captain Andres Iniesta, is the Hoops’ fourth summer acquisition after Sheffield Wednesday’s Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide and Maccabi Petah Tikva’s Liel Abada.

“We are thrilled to bring Kyogo Furuhashi to Celtic,” Parkhead manager Ange Postecoglou said.

He’s a top-notch player who I’m sure I’m familiar with.

“I believe he will bring something unique to our team, and I am confident that the way he plays will excite our fans.”

We’re looking forward to welcoming him to Celtic.” Furuhashi, who has three goals in six international appearances for Japan, helped Vissel Kobe win their only two trophies.

He was a member of the team that won the Emperors Cup on New Year’s Day, 2020, after a 2-0 victory over Kashima Antlers at Tokyo’s National Stadium, and he was also a part of the team that won the Japanese Super Cup the following year.

Postecoglou was in charge of the J1 League champions, Yokohama F Marinos, at the time, and Furuhashi scored in a thrilling 3-3 draw before Vissel Kobe won the trophy following a penalty shoot-out.
