Spezia A Two Year Transfer Ban Has Been Imposed By Fifa On The Serie A Team

Spezia, a Serie A team, has been issued a two-year transfer ban by FIFA for recruiting Nigerian minors into Italy in violation of Italian immigration rules.

The club must also pay a fine of 500,000 Swiss francs (PS394,000) and refrain from recruiting new players for the following four transfer windows.

Dollar Lavagnese 1919 and Valdivara 5 Terre, two lower-tier Italian clubs, were each fined 4,000 Swiss francs (PS3,150) for their involvement in the fraud.

Spezia was purchased by American investors in February, and Thiago Motto, a former Italy midfielder, was named their new coach earlier this month.
