Arsenal Drew 2 2 With Steven Gerrards Rangers In A Pre Season Friendly

Rangers threw away two leads to draw 2-2 with Arsenal in an Ibrox friendly, keeping the Gunners winless on their Scottish visit.
For the first time since coronavirus limitations took effect in March 2020, almost 2,000 Gers fans packed the Govan stadium, cheering on defender Leon Balogun, who scored in the 14th minute with a header from a James Tavernier corner.
On 22 minutes, Nuno Tavares, a Portuguese left-back recruited from Benfica and making his Arsenal debut, scored a close-range equalizer, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who had earlier squandered a opportunity, headed a cross from Cedric Soares wide.

Calvin Bassey blocked a close-range shot from Aubameyang off the line after Jermain Defoe went off to be replaced by Scott Wright.
Arsenal, managed by former Gers player Mikel Arteta, made five interval replacements, with former Celtic defender Kieran Tierney being one of them.
As the slick-moving north London side continued to dominate the ball, McGregor made saves from Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe before both sides made a slew of changes.
In the 75th minute, Rangers striker Cedric Itten headed in a corner from fellow substitute Glenn Middleton, while another substitute, Stephen Kelly, blasted a shot straight at Arsenal substitute goalkeeper Karl Hein.
However, Arsenal replacement Eddie Nketiah equalized in the 83rd minute after shoddy defence from the hosts, albeit from an Ibrox viewpoint, with a new league campaign and Champions League qualifications ahead, the injury to Defoe will likely be more of a concern.
On Saturday, August 14, Arsenal will begin their Premier League campaign against newcomers Brentford.
Mikel Arteta’s team, who finished a disappointing seventh in the Premier League table, face European champions Chelsea in a London derby on August 21, followed by a trip to current champions Manchester City on August 28.
Arsenal’s first north London derby will take place on September 25 at home against Tottenham Hotspur, with the rematch taking place on January 15 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
