Lyon Intends To Acquire A Barcelona Defender This Summer According To Reports

According to Spanish publication Sport (via Barca Blaugranes), Lyon is “working on a plan” to sign Barcelona’s World Cup-winning defender Samuel Umtiti.
Samuel Umtiti joined Barcelona from Lyon in 2016 for EUR25 million.
After France’s impressive World Cup campaign in Russia, the Catalan giants offered Umtiti a new contract in 2018.
Despite the fact that his current contract with Barcelona runs until 2023, the Blaugrana are willing to sell their French defender due to his frequent injuries and poor form.
Lyon are keen on bringing Samuel Umtiti back from Barcelona, according to the aforementioned source.
The Ligue 1 club is optimistic that the centre-back can reclaim the form that made him a regular for the French national team.
Lyon, on the other hand, is concerned about Umtiti’s exorbitant pay.
The Ligue 1 club is mulling a loan deal that only covers half of the 27-year-old defender’s salary.
Given their financial difficulties, Barcelona is unlikely to accept such an offer.
Barca would like to locate Umtiti a new club so that his pay may be paid off the books.
