Barcelona May Be Without A Crucial First Team Player At The Start Of The New Season According To Reports

According to Spanish newspaper AS (via Barca Blaugranes), Barcelona could open the 2021-22 season without first-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen as the German international continues his recovery from a knee injury.
Ter Stegen sustained a knee injury near the conclusion of last season, which forced him to miss Germany’s Euro 2020 qualifiers.
The German goalkeeper is still a long way from full recovery, but he hopes to be back in action by mid-September.
As a result, he will miss the first three games of the new La Liga season for Barcelona.
Barcelona’s home games against Real Sociedad and Getafe, as well as an away game against Athletic Bilbao, are all scheduled to be missed by Ter Stegen.
If all goes according to plan, Ter Stegen might return for Barcelona’s match against Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla on September 12th at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

The 29-year-old former Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper played a key role in Barcelona’s 2015 treble-winning season.
Manager Ronald Koeman was obliged to deploy Neto in goal for the final few games of the previous season due to a knee injury.
Neto might also have an impact on Barcelona’s start to the new season.
Yet, due to Barcelona’s financial difficulties, Neto is one of many periphery players the club is aiming to unload this summer.
Barcelona are reportedly interested in selling Samuel Umtiti, Philippe Coutinho, and Miralem Pjanic, in addition to Neto.

The 22-year-old Spaniard has played 54 times for Barcelona B, but has yet to earn a first-team appearance for the club.
Despite the fact that Inaki Pena is a promising young goalkeeper, Barcelona is not persuaded and may purchase a new goalkeeper as a backup to Ter Stegen if they decide to sell Neto.
Sergio Asenjo of Villarreal has been linked with a move to Barcelona.
But, they have yet to make an official move in his favor.
Ter Stegen may be able to comeback to La Liga at the start of the season, but the club does not want him to rush his return because it could lead to a recurrence.
Only two or three games are expected to be missed by the German goalkeeper.
