Al Avila The Tigers General Manager On Spencer Turnbull Jonathan Schoop And Other Future Questions

Tuesday’s game at Comerica Park did not start off well.
A.J. Hinch, the Tigers’ general manager,
Spencer Turnbull, a right-handed pitcher, will miss the rest of the season, according to Hinch.
He’ll have Tommy John surgery, which can take anywhere from 12 to 18 months to recover from.
Turnbull, who had a 2.88 ERA in nine starts for the Tigers this season, is expected to miss the most of next season as well. “He’s seen a variety of specialists and had testing and numerous views,” Hinch said.
“With the injury, he revealed that he had some persistent damage.”
His UCL injury was not a sudden one.
He was retested once he returned and failed his throwing program.
And it was suggested that (surgery) be done.
