Manchester United Are In Talks With Real Madrid About A Raphael Varane Move

Manchester United and Real Madrid are allegedly in talks to bring defender Raphael Varane to Old Trafford this summer.
As the Red Devils attempt to put together a Premier League title challenge next season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is anxious to bring in a new centre back to play with Harry Maguire.
Maguire’s regular partner at recent seasons has been Victor Lindelof, but there is still opportunity for development in the heart of United’s defense if they are to fight for big titles again.
Manchester United are allegedly in negotiations with Real Madrid about a deal for Raphael Varane. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is anxious to add a new centre-back to complement Harry Maguire. Varane appears to be United’s top priority, and his Real contract expires in less than a year.
If the Spanish club does not sign the 28-year-old centre-back this year, they risk losing him for free the next summer.
Real, on the other hand, appear wary of losing Varane after allowed Sergio Ramos to leave on a free transfer earlier this summer.
The Red Devils are preparing to make a formal approach to the LaLiga giants for their French centre-back, according to Sportsmail, after being persuaded that the player wants to transfer to Old Trafford.
United have been in talks with Real for a week, according to Fabrizio Romano, as they try to strike an agreement.
Varane is reportedly interested in a move to the Premier League but understands Real’s desire to keep him and will not do anything to jeopardize his relationship with the Spanish giants.
The Frenchman would be an upgrade over Victor Lindelof (left) in United’s back line, according to Sportsmail. United believe Real’s value of PS50 million for a player with one year left on his contract is still too much.
Varane has spent a decade with Real Madrid, earning three LaLiga crowns, four Champions League trophies, and four FIFA Club World Cups during his stint with the Spanish giants.
After Zinedine Zidane’s departure at the end of last season, the LaLiga heavyweights are currently managed by Carlo Ancelotti, a former Everton manager.
Varane is returning to Real training late due to his efforts for France at Euro 2020 this summer, which saw Les Bleus exit in the last-16 stage after a penalty shootout loss to Switzerland.
Manchester United has also agreed to sign Jadon Sancho, a winger for Borussia Dortmund and England, for PS73 million this summer.
