After Three Years On Dean Smiths Coaching Staff Aston Villa Associate Head Coach John Terry Has Left The Club

After three years on Dean Smith’s coaching staff, John Terry has stepped down as Aston Villa’s assistant head coach.
Terry, a former England captain, became Smith’s assistant in October 2018 after serving as club captain in 2017.
“It has been a fantastic honor and joy to have spent the last three years at Aston Villa, but I feel now is the perfect moment to make the extremely painful choice to move on,” Terry said on the club’s official website.
“I want to be as respectful as possible to the manager and everyone at Aston Villa, and after giving my future significant thought over the summer, I don’t believe it is fair to start a new season without being certain of seeing it through.”
“My immediate plan is to spend quality time with my family before accepting some invites to visit clubs and managers across Europe in order to further my goal of becoming a manager.”
“It has always been my desire to work in football management, and if the proper opportunity arises, I am ready to take on such a challenge,” he said. This is a breaking Aston Villa news story that is being updated, and more details will be published shortly.
