Liam Cooper A Leeds Teammate Considers Kalvin Phillips To Be One Of The Best Midfielders In The World

After a career-changing Euro 2020 campaign, Leeds United captain Liam Cooper is certain that teammate Kalvin Phillips is “one of the best midfielders in the world.”
Phillips started all seven of England’s games in the World Cup, as Gareth Southgate’s side advanced to the final.
The physicality and supreme fitness of the 25-year-old’s relationship with Declan Rice in front of England’s back line was a crucial element, with his physicality and supreme fitness providing world-class protection throughout.
Cooper, who has watched Phillips grow from a young Elland Road player to a critical component of Marcelo Bielsa’s high-intensity approach, couldn’t be happier.
Cooper exclusively told Sky Sports News, “He proclaimed himself in the first game against Croatia (at Euro 2020), and I’ve told him that his life has changed forever now.”
“He knows that, though; he’s not a knucklehead and goes about his business the appropriate way.”
“I’ve witnessed his development from a small boy to where he is now, and it’s been a pleasure to witness – and he belongs there.”
“He works so hard here (at Leeds), all the guys and the people of Leeds think the world of him, and he deserves everything that comes his way,” says one of the boys.
“I’ve seen how hard he works every day, how much he takes on and turns into his game,” says the narrator.
“In my opinion, he is currently one of the top midfielders in the world.”
