Arsenal Are Keeping A Careful Eye On Martin Odegaard Who Is Now Unemployed At Real Madrid

Arsenal are still interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard this summer, with the Norwegian allegedly unhappy in Madrid.
Odegaard impressed during his loan time at Arsenal last season, and Mikel Arteta hoped to extend the attacking midfielder’s stay in the capital before he returned to Madrid when his loan agreement expired.
However, Sky Sports reports that they haven’t given up hope of signing Odegaard and are keeping a close eye on his status since he returned to Madrid to compete for a starting spot under Carlo Ancelotti.
After returning from his Arsenal tenure, Martin Odegaard’s future at Real Madrid is still uncertain. There are questions about Odegaard’s possibilities in the first team at Madrid, and Arsenal will be looking to take advantage of this.
Norway’s 22-year-old skipper is also said to be uneasy in Madrid, according to Spanish outlet Cadena SER.
According to the source, Odegaard appeared ‘disconnected’ with his teammates during pre-season and isn’t happy in Madrid and is weighing his options, with a return to Arsenal possibly a possibility.
Arteta brought in Odegaard on loan for the second half of last season to assist Arsenal’s stuttering attack during a tumultuous campaign.
Mikel Arteta is keeping a close eye on Odegaard this summer after he impressed on loan at Arsenal last season, especially in the early parts. Odegaard began out brilliantly only for an ankle injury to significantly dampen his time in north London – before it was too late for him to make a major impression right at the end of the season.
In 20 games with the Gunners, the Norwegian scored twice and assisted twice, but his build-up play, work rate, and leadership also stood out.
While the Arsenal are desperate to re-sign Odegaard, Leicester midfielder James Maddison is also on their radar.
Arsenal is also keeping an eye on the position of Leicester midfielder James Maddison. But, a move for Maddison appears to be a long shot at the moment, with Leicester demanding a large fee for their playmaker, who appeared in his side’s friendly defeat to Wycombe on Wednesday night.
Last week, Sportsmail stated that PS50 million would not be enough to bring Leicester to the table at this time.
To sweeten the deal, Arsenal would allow a marginal player like winger Reiss Nelson to move in the opposite direction.
Another player available for transfer is Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who Leicester looked at in January.
