Raphael Varane The France Defender Has A Medical With Manchester United Ahead Of His Transfer From Real Madrid

Raphael Varane is having the first phase of his Manchester United physical before finalizing his switch from Real Madrid.
United signed an agreement with Real Madrid last month to sign the France defender for a sum reported to be in the region of PS41 million, including add-ons, and expect to complete the signing in the next 24-28 hours.
Varane, 28, arrived in Manchester last week after quarantine laws and paperwork concerns caused his arrival to be delayed. He was then quarantined for a period of time.
Following the free transfer of goalkeeper Tom Heaton and the acquisition of England winger Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for PS73 million, the centre-back will become United’s third summer signing.
Varane’s Real contract was set to expire next summer, but he has made 360 appearances for the Spanish club during his ten-year spell, winning the Champions League and La Liga three times each.
Varane is expected to participate in full training ahead of United’s Premier League opener against Leeds at Old Trafford on Saturday, with player registrations due by 12 noon on Friday at the latest.
Varane, who joined United from Lens as a prospect in 2011, honed his trade at Real Madrid, where he developed into a complete defender, says Sky Sports’ Adam Bate.
