Leicester Are Close To Completing A Ps15 Million Agreement To Sign Southampton Defender Jannik Vestergaard

After making an initial PS13 million bid for Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard, Leicester are closing in on a PS15 million deal.
The Foxes are trying to add at least one centre-back before the transfer window ends, and have made another bid for Vestergaard, who is in his final year of contract.
Due to injuries to Wesley Fofana, who will not play again until 2022 after breaking his leg and tearing knee ligaments, and Jonny Evans, who will be out until at least mid-September with a foot ailment, Leicester are on the lookout for defenders.
Leicester are close to signing Jannik Vestergaard from Southampton for PS15 million after Wesley Fofana injured his leg in pre-season. Sportsmail reported on August 6 that Vestergaard was one of their major objectives, and that a deal might be done before the Premier League opener against Wolves on Saturday, after an initial approach worth around PS13 million.
Leicester had also been considering Burnley’s James Tarkowski, a one-year contract player who had previously piqued their interest.
Vestergaard, who turned 29 earlier this month, has the Premier League experience that Leicester needed after losing Fofana and Evans.
Vestergaard, who is facing England’s Harry Kane in this photo, was a key performer for Denmark at Euro 2020. Manager Brendan Rodgers may make a bid for another midfielder before the window shuts.
Former England defenders Gary Cahill, who is now without a club after leaving Crystal Palace at the conclusion of last season, and Phil Jones have been mentioned.
Vestergaard joined Saints three years ago from German club Borussia Monchengladbach and has established himself as a regular at the back.
He was also a member of the Danish team that advanced to the Euro 2020 semi-finals.
