Liverpool Has Surged Ahead Of Barcelona In The Race To Sign Renato Sanches

Liverpool are expected to beat Barcelona to sign Renato Sanches, a midfielder from Portugal.
The 23-year-old is likely to depart French champions Lille this summer, where he was a crucial figure in the club’s title triumph after resuming his career after a disastrous loan spell at Bayern Munich.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Lille has set a PS40 million price tag on Sanches, and Liverpool is in ‘pole position’ to sign the midfielder given Barcelona’s well-documented financial woes.
Liverpool are in ‘pole position’ to acquire Renato Sanches, who performed for Portugal at Euro 2020 this summer and was instrumental in Lille’s title triumph. Premier League fans may recall Sanches from his brief spell at Swansea, where he famously passed the ball to an advertising hoarding.
Nonetheless, following an outstanding season for Lille, he was one of Portugal’s best players at Euro 2020.
Sanches would only be Jurgen Klopp’s second acquisition of the transfer window if he arrived on Merseyside, after Ibrahima Konate, who came for PS36 million earlier in the summer.
But, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hinted that further additions could be made before the transfer window closes on August 31 in a possible late flurry of action at Anfield.
‘I am extremely delighted with the group, but that doesn’t mean we don’t look in the market,’ Klopp said after Liverpool’s 1-1 friendly draw with Athletic Bilbao.
‘We have a big squad and there might be something happening until the end of the transfer window, but I cannot say anything about it at the moment,’ Klopp said.
According to Dutch media site Voetbal24, the French team could accept a PS38 million offer for the 19-year-old Belgian, and Liverpool are mulling a move for Doku as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
