Jamie Carragher believes Roberto Firmino should no longer be first choice at Liverpool

Jamie Carragher was critical of Liverpool in his column for The Telegraph after their 4-1 defeat against Napoli.Carragher was very concerned about the energy in the Liverpool side.He also singled out two players in particular who he didn’t think were cut out to start big matches anymore. One of those players was 36-year-old James Milner, who struggled in midfield amid Liverpool’s struggles.

The £29 million signing from Hoffenheim has written himself into Liverpool’s history as part of an incredible attacking trio.Firmino alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were unplayable at times. However, Firmino has slowly declined over the last several seasons, and managed less than ten goal contributions last season.Klopp loved playing Firmino as a false nine, but with Salah and Luis Diaz either side of him, the role is less important.
