Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham is set to leave the Bundesliga giants for Liverpool

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was astounded by how good Jude Bellingham has become after witnessing the midfielder’s growing abilities firsthand.
The 19-year-old is quickly becoming one of Europe’s most sought-after players, and it’s easy to see why. The teenager is one game away from his 100th appearance for Borussia Dortmund, having scored his 13th goal for the Bundesliga club on Wednesday night.
That strike saw him open the scoring against Guardiola’s City with a deft header. Indeed, it was not only the finish but also the movement and timing of his run that made that such a well-taken goal. Furthermore, his all-around talent in the Dortmund midfield was on display for all to see. Simply put, Bellingham has it all.
His ties to a move to Liverpool are well known. Indeed, over the summer, it was reported that they were working on a deal to bring him back to the Premier League in 2023. To that end, reports are circulating that a deal worth around £103 million is in the works.
The Reds’ midfield is getting on in years, so new blood will be needed. To that end, Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson are both approaching 30 and appear to be more prone to injury than ever before. James Milner, 37 this year, is almost certainly in his final season at Anfield.
To compound matters, both Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be out of contract next summer. From January 1, both are eligible to negotiate free transfer moves.
As a result, it’s no surprise that Jurgen Klopp appears to be desperate to sign the midfielder. A reliable source claims Liverpool are the favorites to sign Jude Bellingham.
Of course, the Reds will not be the only team interested in signing Bellingham. Pundit Owen Hargreaves believes a move to Manchester United is also possible, with his potential signing capable of transforming the club’s midfield.
The Daily Telegraph, on the other hand, claims that Liverpool is the frontrunner for his signature. They anticipate Dortmund making the midfielder available for transfer next summer, with the Reds at the head of the line.
This is consistent with a pattern that has emerged at Dortmund over the years in which they sell one top talent every summer. That policy of buying young and selling for huge profits has served the Bundesliga giants well.
Despite the fact that their sporting director Sebastian Kehl insists Bellingham is happy at Dortmund and that they are willing to abandon their annual sale of their best stars with Bellingham,
Nonetheless, the teen’s worth has skyrocketed since his initial £20.7m move from Birmingham in July 2020. According to the Telegraph, Dortmund would be hard pressed to turn down a massive offer from the Reds if one were to come their way.
Furthermore, Mike McGrath believes Bellingham’s performance at the Etihad on Wednesday night only served to persuade Klopp that Bellingham is a must-buy for the Merseysiders.
With his goal, Bellingham has become the most prolific English teenager in Champions League history, surpassing Wayne Rooney.
Pep Guardiola was impressed by the midfielder’s performance.
While Liverpool are the favorites to sign him, Guardiola is well aware of his abilities.
The City manager has seen the player’s development firsthand, as Bellingham scored against them in the quarter-finals last season.
However, Bellingham took his game to a new level on Wednesday night, with an outstanding all-around performance.
Guardiola was clearly impressed when he gave his verdict on the 15-time England cap.
“When he was 17, I was impressed.” Consider what I think of him now that he’s 19!” Guardiola stated this.
“Bellingham) grew up so fast.” On defense, he can follow (Ilkay) Gundogan or Kevin (De Bruyne) into the pockets and win duels.
“So he’s a fantastic player.” I believe everyone is aware of it. Not because Manchester City’s manager will tell you. Everyone is aware of it.”

As a result, it’s easy to see why Liverpool will go all out to secure Bellingham in 2023. When the Reds needed a new midfielder this summer, they chose to sign Arthur Melo on loan.
That refusal to sanction a permanent deal for another target was almost certainly motivated by a future raid for Jude Bellingham.
Any deal, however, will almost certainly break the Reds’ current transfer record. That will undoubtedly be worth it, as the star is expected to be a top midfielder for at least the next decade. The truth about Uruguayan’s £80.4m deadline day swoop emerges, as three other Ward targets are named.
